TestRail alternative

A TestRail alternative built for small QA teams

TestRail is the best-known test management tool, and for good reason. But a 10-person team pays $380 a month on TestRail Professional, mostly for test cases, runs and Jira links. TestLinkPro gives you those for $19 a month flat, and up to 5 people can use it free.

No credit card. Every account starts on Free. Import your TestRail CSV, XML or API export on any paid plan.

What you keep when you switch

  • Your test cases and structure. Import TestRail CSV or XML, or pull straight from the TestRail API. Sections become modules.
  • Test runs and plans. Pass, Fail, Blocked, Partial pass and On hold, with keyboard shortcuts, evidence uploads, assignees and a one-click PDF report.
  • Jira. File a defect from a failed step and see its status sync back. Jira and ClickUp are included from Starter; GitHub, GitLab, Azure DevOps, Linear and more trackers are on Team. See integrations.
  • Automation results. Upload JUnit, TestNG, NUnit, xUnit, TRX, Allure, Cucumber, Mocha or Playwright reports from any CI with one curl call (Starter and up).
  • Traceability. A requirements traceability matrix on every plan, including Free, with Excel/CSV export.

What you get that TestRail doesn’t list

  • A real free plan: 5 users, 3 projects, 1,000 test cases, no time limit. What’s in Free.
  • One flat price up to 10 users, so adding your 7th tester doesn’t change the bill.
  • Free viewers: developers, PMs and clients can see runs and reports without a paid seat.
  • AI browser runs: run a test case in a real Chromium browser driven by AI and Playwright, with step screenshots (30 hosted minutes a month on Free, 300 on Starter).
  • Docs Spaces: versioned test strategy and release notes linked to requirements and cases.
  • EU hosting: data at Hetzner in Germany.

Where TestRail is the better choice

We’d rather you pick the right tool than switch twice. Stay on TestRail if you need:

  • Compliance evidence: TestRail lists SOC 2 and ISO 27001. TestLinkPro has neither yet.
  • SSO, MFA and audit logs: TestRail Enterprise has them. TestLinkPro doesn’t offer SSO or MFA yet.
  • On-premise hosting: TestRail offers it on Professional and Enterprise. TestLinkPro is cloud only.
  • A long track record and a big integration ecosystem: TestRail has been the market standard for years. TestLinkPro is new.

Who switches to TestLinkPro

  • Teams of 3–15 testers who mostly need cases, runs, Jira and CI results
  • Startups moving off spreadsheets that can’t justify $38 per user
  • Agencies that want clients to see results without buying them seats

Switch in an afternoon

  1. Create a free workspace (no credit card).
  2. Upgrade from inside the app, then export from TestRail (CSV/XML) or paste a TestRail API key into the importer.
  3. Check that your sections arrived as modules, then invite your team. Viewers are free on paid plans.

TestRail alternative: questions

Is TestLinkPro really cheaper than TestRail?

For 10 users, TestLinkPro Starter is $19 a month and TestRail Professional is $380 a month at its annual-billing rate (testrail.com/pricing, checked 11 October 2026). For 25 users it’s $137.50 against $950.

Can I import my TestRail test cases?

Yes, on any paid plan. Use TestRail CSV or XML, or pull directly from the TestRail API; the key is used once and not stored. Excel import works on every plan, including Free.

Does TestLinkPro integrate with Jira like TestRail does?

Yes, from Starter. You can file defects from failed steps, sync their status, and import Jira stories as requirements.

Does TestLinkPro have SSO, MFA or SOC 2?

Not yet. If you need them today, TestRail Enterprise is the better fit.

Is TestLinkPro related to TestRail or to TestLink?

No. TestLinkPro is an independent product. It isn’t affiliated with TestRail or the TestLink open-source project.

Where is my data stored?

At Hetzner in Falkenstein, Germany (EU), over HTTPS, with nightly database backups.
